Welcome to the home of the Midwestern State University Guard. The MSU Winterguard was a semi-finalist at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio in 2005, 2006, and in 2007. The Guard returned to Dayton in April, 2007 and competed in class Independent A, finishing 18th in a field of over 60 guards. The MSU Winterguard is a member of the North Texas Colorguard Association and Winterguard International.
Auditions for the MSU Winterguard have taken place and rehearsals have begun. The 2008
program is entitled Rain. The
Winterguard will be attending these contests: No audition is necessary for the field guard during marching season. There is a $125 band scholarship for freshmen and sophomores and a $225 band scholarship for juniors and seniors. Two semesters of marching band guard substitutes for one physical education course in the core curriculum requirement at MSU. Four semesters of marching band guard substitutes for the entire PE requirement. The cost of the field guard uniform is about $60. Members are expected to provide black dance shoes. If you are interested in spinning a rifle, we can order one for you for about $30. The guard will join the band for four days of pre-school rehearsals August 20-23 from noon to 9 p.m. Dinner is provided each day of pre-band. After classes begin, rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. (We only rehearse on Tuesday evenings for eight weeks beginning on Tuesday, August 28.) Our guard director
is Nathan Ascano.
