Band Being a part of a college band program is exciting and rewarding. High-school and college students often have questions about the MSU Band program, band scholarships, the amount of time needed to be in the bands, which course to enroll in, etc. If we haven't answered your questions with this page, don't hesitate to call us.
We are dedicated to giving our best every time we rehearse or perform. Discipline, unity, leadership, and a positive attitude are key ingredients for our success. Learning to work with others is one of the most important skills you can learn in life. An important part of being a member of the MSU Bands is making new friendships with other students. Membership in the MSU Bands can give you the motivation and inspiration to perform well at MSU and will carry over into other aspects of your college life. We want you to know that every single band member is important to what we are trying to accomplish--learning good music, becoming better performers, and supporting University programs like intercollegiate athletics. Your desire to contribute to the bands and your dedication to being the best are just as important to us as are your musical experiences and performing ability. All students, from beginning freshmen to seniors, are welcome members of the MSU Bands. If you have further questions, you may always call or e-mail any member of the band staff and we will be happy to help you. The Midwestern State University Band program is a major source of pride
and spirit for the Music Program and for the University. We are one of
the most visible student groups at the University. Our bands perform at
pep rallies, parades around campus, formal and informal concerts, and in
the public schools across north Texas. Our bands perform at home and
away football games, men's and women's basketball games, and home and
away playoff games in several sports.
